Registered under University of Calicut (U.O.No.17535/2019/Admn dated 16.12.2019). Title of Work:Prevention of cardiomyopathy induced by combination treatment of anti-Cancer drugs with morel mushroom, morchellabioactives. Drug induced cardiotoxicityis one of the major concern associated with anti-cancer chemotherapy. Chemotherapeutic drugs leads tooxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction which inturn impairs with cardiac cells. Combination treatmentof Adriamycin and Cyclophosphamide is widely used in the treatment of breast cancer, these combinationinduces oxidative stress and leads to cardiomyopathy which can be ameliorated to a great extend by providingcompounds having antioxidant potential. Dexrazoxane is used as a cardioprotective agent but it has got seriousside effects. So it is quintessential to conduct a study on the cardioprotective compounds which is less harm.Morel mushrooms are a type of edible mushroom which is of great medicinal importance and our studyconcerns with the amelioration potential of morel mushroom bioactives in drug induced cardiotoxicity.
